Dermatological company found a new home designed with a calm and casual aesthetic.
Starting with building due diligence, we worked with our client, a global pharmaceutical company, to tour various sites to find where their new workplace would thrive. With the need for both office and lab spaces, we found a space that would deliver their vision, budget, and timeline.
Our client’s new workplace was an existing office that we were able to maintain much of the original infrastructure for while creating an environment that was more conducive to their needs. By following their global playbook, we incorporated their design standards to ensure continuity from one office to the next. With a Japandi aesthetic – a mix of Japanese and Scandinavian styles – the essence of their workspace is centered around clean, calm, casual, and organic design.
A 1,500 sqft lab and treatment room were created for testing new products, a break area and open office setting were incorporated for collaboration and meetups, and a reception area was curated to welcome guests and clients into the space.
Our designers created an airiness with wood accents, polished concrete, muted carpets, and pops of greenery. Their new space is an open concept with high ceilings, skylights, and two garage doors that provide easy flow between indoor and outdoor access – allowing staff to enjoy the mild temperatures that Southern California offers nearly year-round. With proximity to the ocean, the office and lab teams can enjoy both their new workspaces and the surrounding outdoors for respite throughout their workday.
With the ability to adopt our fully integrated approach, we met tight timelines, turnarounds, and budget constraints. Working with an existing floorplate helped mitigate cost overruns but also called for creative design solutions to adhere to the building infrastructure while simultaneously meeting the client’s vision.
